Linden Leas Pre School

Introduction

Welcome to Linden Leas Pre School

The Pre School years are an extremely important time for laying the foundations on which children can build their future.

All children learn more in the period from birth to five years old than any other time in their lives.

Our mission is to provide high quality care and education with the child at the heart of our practice. To promote:

  • Confident
  • Happy
  • Individuals who
  • Love learning and enjoy
  • Developing to their full potential

Linden Leas Pre School was last inspected by OFSTED in October 2023 and we were delighted to maintain our ‘Outstanding‘ grade.

The report can be viewed at: ofsted.gov.uk

Linden Leas has been established since 1981.

About us

Key Information

Our building is located on the site of Hawes Down Primary School; we have a large outdoor area that is adjacent to the large school playing field. We have a mixed age group which reflects a family unit and supports continuity as children do not need to move rooms or age groups as we believe children can learn from and support each other.

Registration

We take 33 children per session from two years old to rising five. We generally have one point of entry in September; however we may take children at any time if there are available spaces.

Admissions

Linden Leas Pre School welcomes every family in the community.

We operate a waiting list system. To ensure a fair opportunity to all children, the following factors are taken into consideration:

  • children whose needs are urgent
  • date of birth
  • siblings (Pre School and Hawes Down Primary School)
  • children moving into the area
  • date of registration

Parents can choose sessions to meet their individual family needs (depending on availability) however we recommend children attend over a minimum of two sessions on two different

days per week to help them develop a sense of belonging.

Children with special educational needs, disabilities or health care needs

We are an inclusive setting that welcomes every child. We have lots of experience of caring for children with a wide range of needs including delayed speech and language, global delay and physical disabilities.

We work in partnership with a wide range of professionals and attend relevant training so that we can offer the best possible care and support each child to develop to their full potential. We are proactive in seeking early support for children who are showing signs of not meeting expected levels of progress.

Please feel free to contact us to discuss your child’s individual needs.

Aims

We aim to:

  1. Provide a safe, caring and happy environment that actively promotes British values, inclusion, equality of opportunity alongside the valuing of diversity through celebrating difference and championing an anti-racist outlook.

  2. Work in close partnership with parents / carers to recognise the developmental needs of each child. All children will be respected and their individuality and potential recognised, valued and promoted.

  3. Give generous care and attention because of our high ratio of qualified staff to children.

  4. Create challenging and stimulating experiences from which children will gain in confidence, self-esteem and flourish.

  5. Promote social awareness and understanding to help children respect and take  pleasure in the company of others.

  6. Provide an enabling environment which encourages children to become independent and supports children to initiate and direct their own learning.

  7. Provide child centred educational activities and equipment to support children to take forward their learning and development through building on what they already know and can do.

  8. Have FUN!
